Book an Intimate Dinner

Valentine’s Day in Monaco wouldn’t be complete without a meal in one of Monaco’s international class restaurants. Joël  Robuchon at the Metropole Hotel is the ideal setting for a romantic lunch or dinner. Everything – from the opulent decor to the sublime dishes – aims for perfection, and the Michelin guide recommends it because of “the imposing dessert trolley, the choice of wines that leaves nothing to chance”. It is this attention to detail that has earned the establishment two Michelin stars. Finish the night in the nearby Fairmont Hotel’s Saphir 24 for a post-date lounge drink with breathtaking vistas through the large windows overlooking the sea.

For a special dinner with sea views, the Blue Bay at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hôtel & Resort is a great choice. Marcel Ravin crafts fusion cuisine which blends his Caribbean roots with French haute cuisine, and its high standards have also been rewarded with a Michelin star. The setting couldn’t be any more romantic with its sweeping views of the Mediterranean. However, it is also unpretentious and pleasantly relaxed compared to similarly upscale establishments in the centre of the Principality. Despite its name, the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel is actually located on the Larvotto peninsula, a stone’s throw from the French border. Even if you live in Monaco, it’s worth splashing out to enjoy a pre-date night spa experience with a luxurious heated pool and hot tub. You can also enjoy a leisurely continental breakfast the next morning. The spacious rooms are decorated in a contemporary style with huge beds and balconies.

Enjoy Monaco’s Nature

Even in winter, you can expect at least six hours of sunshine a day and temperatures rarely dip below five degrees celsius on the coldest days. So it’s a great excuse to get out and explore Monaco’s parks and coast. The Japanese Garden is close to Monte Carlo and provides an oasis of calm, although history buffs will prefer to stroll the lanes of Monaco-Ville. The Jardin St. Martin comprises a series of paths that meander along the southwest face of the Rock of Monaco, offering unrivalled views of the sea.

Besides its inland glamour, Monaco’s big highlight is its seaside setting. Why not try a James Bond style experience and hire a speed boat to whizz along the coast? If you want to take it easy, you could charter a small yacht and enjoy a champagne picnic.

A Night of Romance

This Valentine’s Day in Monaco, couples can enjoy an elegant evening at "The Grand Ball of Princes and Princesses". Taking place from 7.30pm at La Salle Empire de l'Hôtel de Paris, the gala event showcases prestigious artists, musicians, dancers and singers. This is a fairytale occasion, so ladies should find their favourite ball gowns and floor-length dresses while men dust off their finest suits and white ties. The setting in the iconic Hôtel de Paris is spectacular and the Salle Empire has been welcoming Monaco’s VIPs for the last 150 years.
